Affairs have often been a risk associated with military service. The dynamics behind military affairs are myriad.  Some of my comments on the unique stresses associated with military marriages was cited in a recent article on divorce360.com.

Among the issues to deal with are the effects of co-ed military units, the authority structure (relationships involving power hierarchies often very often prone to affair pressures), and being away from home. The pressures at work on most individuals can easily overwhelm a spouse. The extreme conditions can turn into a form of emotional excitement and turn relationships into an affair prone relationship without being attracted to anyone. It is just that the extreme emotional scenarios make it easy to join with others and be confused with emotional attractions.
