This is one of those questions which is more profound that initially seen. The short answer to this question is no. The long answer is that the infidel is often looking for any excuse they can. They may blame family, their upbringing, etc. They still made the choice for their actions. Although they made the choice, within some families are patterns of having affairs. The family did not cause the affair, but they made it easy for them to fall into the pattern.

There are still other families that push for couples to break-up or have affairs. They exert pressure both directly and indirectly on the marriage to that end. When a person is just reacting to life rather than making conscious choices, they may find themselves drifting into an affair without even thinking about it. Although they did not think about it they still made choices concerning their actions.

So families can not cause affairs, but you can not dismiss their influence on making an affair possible.
