The dangers of negativity

Negativity is dangerous. There are times that it can energize you, empowering you to take action. When negativity is powering you to do something, you can be sure that it is something unhealthy if not illegal. Negativity lives for revenge and payback. Holding onto the negativity may give you a reason to get out of bed in the morning, yet the places it takes you are never wholesome ones. The negative energy that goes with negativity often attracts an unwholesome collection of associates. Other ‘haters’ will be drawn to you. They will encourage you in directions that indulge selfishness. They often feed your ego like cheerleaders who goad you on. I recall back when I was at Park View Junior High School, these same people were the ones encouraging people to fight. They loved standing around chanting “fight, fight, fight”. Sure such encouragement pumps you up, yet that kind of encouragement is most often self-indulgent if not vengeful. It does feel good to ‘vent your spleen’, yet there are always consequences for doing so. Part of those consequences include loosing good friends, pushing out love, using control games rather than love to motivate people and becoming more selfish.

The energy boost you get from negativity also requires constant recharging. You will always have to be stirring something up in order to get a fix. What starts as a quick fix can turn into a lifestyle.
