You have more influence on the Affair, than you realize

When you discover that your spouse is cheating, it’s an emotional explosion. Part of the damage inflicted in that initial shock wave blast includes losing your sense of value, identity and worth.

You’re not just emotionally leveled, you’ve lost MORE than that.

You begin feeling helpless and powerless to change anything. Once those thoughts of helplessness and powerlessness enter your mind, they eat away at your confidence and start taking over more and more of your conscious thinking.

These thoughts are part of the damage that comes with the emotional blast. It amounts to an ’emotional concussion’.

Like a physical blast, there’s visible damage from the energy of the blast. There’s also the damage from the noise of the blast showing up as ringing in the ears or temporary hearing difficulties. The force and noise of the blast have knocked your senses for a loop as well as your body.

In the case of emotional concussion, your senses and thinking are still reeling. You loose your sense of direction and your centering.

During this time of being disoriented, you start viewing yourself as helpless and powerless to change things. The longer you hold onto that idea, the more confidence you loose. These thoughts rob you of your confidence and your energy as well.

Much like a blast, the disorientation is temporary. In a similar way, your helplessness and powerlessness are temporary as well.

The truth is that you do have power and influence. Part of your challenge is recognizing and accepting that you have power and influence.

Once its recognized and accepted, you begin learning ways of using your influence. With some practice, you adjust your motivations as well. Doing the ‘right thing’ for the wrong reason is detrimental.

Discovering  you have more power than you thought is good, yet learning ways of using it with the right attitude is  a journey of discovery.
