If you ever thought your situation could not get any worse, it can. Whenever you mix illegal drugs and affairs things spin out of control very quickly.
One of the most heartbreaking situations I ever had to face was with Susie. What made her situation tragic was that she sincerely wanted to do right by her husband. She wanted to be a good wife. Her intentions were honorable.
When her husband’s debts from illegal drugs became immense, he became desperate in finding a way to deal with his drug creditors. Since his wife, Susie was attractive, he made the choice of using her to pay off his drug debts. Since Susie grew up believing that a good wife does what her husband instructs her to do, she reluctantly obeyed his latest scheme.
She was put in a situation that no wife should ever have to face, nor any loving husband put their wife in. Her husband was exploiting her belief system to make merchandise out of her. She was torn. She told herself that a ‘good wife’ obeys her husband, and a bad wife disobeys. Since she wanted to be a ‘good wife’, she was stuck. She never considered that it was evil that her husband to put her in that situation.
The whole experience was a nightmare. She never dreamed that she would be used to pay off her husband’s drug debt. At first, she was told it was a ‘one-time’ thing. Whenever a drug addict tells you it is a one-time thing, they just mean one at a time, not that it is for one time only.
The nightmare now had no expiration date. Again and again, he used Susie to pay off his debts. She was becoming merchandise in the drug world. He would continue getting high, and she continued being used for payment. It was a system that worked for him, but tore Susie apart.
Now, here she was, a broken woman wanting to put the pieces of her life back together. Susie was finally able to get her life back together and overcome her experience. The sad part was that although Susie’s situation was the worst I had heard of, it was not the last Susie-type experience happens. Susie’s who marry addicts often find themselves being put in bad situations where they become merchandise. Illegal drugs and affairs don’t mix. When addicts are involved, affairs become just another way to get their high.
