John Dee’s wife swapping pact and your Marriage

July is the birth month of John Dee. Although you likely haven’t heard of him, there are lessons to be learned from his life.

If you’ve visited London, you’re well aware of all the blue historical plaques around the city alerting you to the historic people who lived there or some events from their lives. John Dee has his own plaque in the city.

He was a spiritual advisor to Queen Elizabeth I. Being a man of influence, people listened to what he said, and one of those was the queen.

He was a religious man who claimed receiving special messages from spiritual beings, including angels. Since he received unique spiritual messages, he was treated as a ‘special person’.

In one of those messages, he was told by an ‘angel’ that he and another man in the Queen’s courts were to swap wives. Being that he claimed it of ‘inspired’ origin, few questioned instructions from an ‘angel’. Some historians refer to this episode as the ‘wife swapping pact’.

Although Dee lived in the 1500’s, tricksters still use John Dee’s methods in sleeping with other men’s wives. It’s as if John Dee is the patron saint of wife swapping.

Today’s tricksters claim having a ‘special spiritual’ insights. They have a veneer of religiosity, yet with a sensual core. They appear religious, without having the self-restraint and discipline you’d expect.

With their ‘spiritual gift’, they claim having a special dispensation or message regarding sleeping with other men’s wives. They may even say that God commanded them to do it or that the husbands are commanded to share their wives with him.

They count on you being spiritually naive. They look for couples they can exploit. If you’re fortunate, all they’ll do is sleep with your spouse.

Either way, it’s a con for getting into someone’s pants while avoiding the messy accountability and accusations of an affair. The reality is that what John Dee did was adultery and so is what the modern charlatans are telling you.

Sleeping with another man’s wife is adultery, no matter what kind of spiritual garb they wrap it in. These kinds of episodes don’t make you holy, it makes you sleazy.

If you’ve been caught up in one of these John Dee scams, the first thing you need to do is wake up. You’ve been scammed and spiritually duped. Their using their position and influence in taking advantage of you.

These spiritual advisor/seducer types are false prophets who are about fulfilling their desires and getting control. Once you wake up to what happened, you’ll be angry.

  1. Consider looking below the outer surface of Dee’s “adultery”. He was duped into this by his rogue companion Edward Kelly.

Thank you for sharing that. There are often other players in adultery situations who are influencing things in a bad way, AEB John Dee.
