Starting over again poses challenges. In starting over again it’s important that you have a new foundation for your marriage.
A solid foundation gives you grounding. It also provides common ground that the two of you start from. When you have a solid base, you can build for the future.
If you make the mistake of starting over without changing the foundation of your marriage, you may find yourself facing the same relationship issues in another form in a few short years.
The problem is that your first marriage foundation failed you. It didn’t provide a solid base for your marriage. Rebuilding on a faulty foundation creates an unsound situation.
No builder worth their salt would knowingly build on a faulty foundation. This is true for buildings and for building your marriage. The solidness of your foundation limits how much you can build and expand.
The more solid your foundation, the greater your growth potential.
Putting down a new foundation doesn’t have to be complicated. Part of that new foundation includes recognizing that the old foundation of ‘just trust me’ no longer works.
You already tried ‘just trusting them’ without verifying or holding them accountable. At this point, both you and the cheater need accountability.
