Rebuilding Intimacy-Trust III

Another key part of re-establishing trust is “communication”. This sounds simple, yet I am amazed at how many couples do not make time for talking and being with each other. If you are not making time for talking with each other, there is little likelihood that the relationship is going to improve. You partner will not be able to trust you if they do not know who you are, what  things are important to you,  what direction your life is going,  what your morals are, what your vision for the marriage is and so forth. These are just some of the topics that if you have not addressed with your partner, they do not know who you are. If they do not know you, they will not be able to trust you.  Knowing and trusting are correlated with each other. You can not have trust without knowing your partner. I recognize that in some cases, they do not trust you because they do know you. If that is your situation, you will definitely need to focus on the other aspects of trust that I have already addressed and will address in future postings.

Wishing the best with your recovery,

Jeff Murrah
