Greyhound Therapy

When I was doing hospital work, we often joked about ‘greyhound therapy’. This was when people would take a bus or other transportation, and physically leave their problems and issues behind. In the aftermath of an affair, the pain is intense. Some people attempt to ‘fix’ the problem by running away from it. This type of approach only changes the battlefield. Greyhound therapy is only the solution for situations where your physical safety is in danger. If you are in physical danger from your spouse, then greyhound therapy is the solution. If your physical safety is not in danger, then this approach serves as an avoidance of the issues.

Solutions of leaving the city make any kind of working through issues a difficult matter. Before exercising such options consider whether or not it actually helps matters. If leaving does not help the situation, it is likely an avoidance. If you are avoiding the issues, greyhound therapy will only serve to intensify the issues leading to the affair, not solve them. If you are thinking only of yourself, then taking yourself out of the situation will only serve to perpetuate the cycle of selfishness that contributed to the affair in the first place.
