You can’t handle it…

When it comes to honesty and ‘the truth’, you may find that you have to take it in small doses. Although you and I both want to hear the truth, there are times that it is hard to hear a large amount of truth at one time. In such cases, you may have to swallow truth a little at a time. Although truth is often unpleasant, it is better for you in the long run than believing a lie and building your life around a delusion. One thing that often triggers angry reactions is hearing the truth. Few things arouse anger faster than truth. You may have to remind yourself that the angry person is not mad at you, they are mad at realizing the error of what they had believed. On hearing the truth, they can no longer live in the fantasy world of some lie. They do not like having to give up their fantasy. Like someone forced out of their warm bed on a cold morning, the person having to give up their fantasy does not give them up with a smile on their face.

There may be times that you are the person who is not wanting to hear the truth. It is a rude awakening, but a necessary one. Although honesty is often associated with truth, they are not the same. A person can be honest and believe a lie. They may be sincere, yet be sincerely wrong. Getting honesty and truth confused can lead to problems. They are both good qualities, yet you want them together and not separate.
