Pushing the cheater away, tearing down your marriage and putting up walls

Are you like the woman who tears down her home one brick at a time? Some of you may be the type that is not content with one brick, but instead tear down one wall at a time. Tearing down your own home or marriage is foolish.

How you handle temptation and the aftermath of an affair are important. Lashing out at your spouse may give you an emotional release and bring some temporary relief, but has it made your marriage stronger? Is pushing your spouse away strengthening or weakening your marriage.

You may have good or even excellent reasons not to trust them. They may have not cherished you or valued you in the past. When they reach out for you, is it a time to push them away? Hurting them the way they hurt you is not a way to bring the two of you closer to each other.

Each time you push them away, it brings discouragement. How you handle the incident will determine whether that discouragement is a temporary or a permanent fixture in your marriage relationship.

As you push them away, your making whatever distance existing between the two of you permanent. If you need the safety of a wall, it may make sense.

If instead, you want the comfort of his arms, you will need to overcome that space. Keeping space equals putting up walls. Putting up walls equals tearing down your marriage.

You will have choices in how you respond to the cheater. How you handle it determines whether they give up on you and your marriage in discouragement or whether the two of you survive your partners affair.  You may need space, but how you go about it makes all the difference.

Rather than continuing pushing your spouse away, consider the video, “How Can I Trust You Again?” It provides you with concrete ways of starting to trust again. You were hurt, your relationship was damaged and needs rebuilding. This video guides you through that journey.

Best Regards,

Jeff
