Should I say something about my pastor having an Affair?

 

One of the awkward situations that you may find yourself facing is when discover your pastor is having an affair. This kind of discovery if unpleasant whether you find hard evidence or whether you come across rumors.

Rumors and hard evidence each have their own challenges.

When it’s your pastor, it’s important that you deal with facts as much as possible. As bad as it sounds, there are some people who intentionally spread rumors about pastors they don’t agree with.

There are also some people who intentionally set pastors up for various forms of sexual misconduct so that they can be either disgraced or compromised.

Pastors know those kinds of people exist. If they’ve dealt with those types before, they may exhibit some defensiveness.

Pastors who take stands or have the courage to say “NO” to popular trends are often targets of rumors and intentional attacks. They pose a threat to the status quo and the promoters of status quo immorality seek ways of bringing them down to their level.

Some pastors stumble into affair situations. They find themselves in questionable situations that look bad, or that they are not equipped to handle.

Being in a position of authority, they’re vulnerable to the sexualized attention and affection of those under their direction. Some people do not know how to express admiration, or handle strong feelings without sexualizing them.

They may admire the pastor or be needy, yet when the only tool in their social skill tool box is a sexual one, it poses some challenges for pastors.

Whatever the story or reasons behind the affair, or affair rumors, they still need to be addressed.
