“It’s never the same!”

One of my neighbors is a former professional athlete. While walking the dogs, I stopped at his home and we began talking about his experiences.

He stated “After you break a bone, it’s never the same. It heals, but it doesn’t work like it did.” Given what he’s gone through, and how many bones he’s broken, I heard the voice of experience.

His comment struck me as one of those truisms of life. It’s not just broken bones, it also applies to broken hearts and broken spirits as well.

Although you don’t see hearts and spirits as easily, you know when they’ve been broken. You know when your heart is crushed or damaged by an affair.

The doctors may tell you “It’s as good a new” in reference to what’s been broken. In terms of the X-rays and bone scans the damage heals.

Although the bone heals, your body remembers what happened. Your muscles and brain are well aware that things have changed.

When it comes to affairs, they change you as well. Like the broken bone, the damage done changes you. It changes your marriage relationship.

You can work through the communication and behavioral issues. Although the two of you work things out, something inside of you knows it’s different.

Outsiders may even view your marriage as ‘healed’ yet deep inside there are still doubts. Betrayal damages more than just your heart.

When the doubts continue worsening, it’s time for help. It’s a sign that not everything is settled.

This is where membership in the Restored Lifestyle site can help. There you can anonymously share your concerns, doubts and fears with others.

There are times you just need to share and talk about your concerns. Although it’s not the same, you can address those deep seated fears and concerns.

Keeping It Real,

Jeff
