Bad News Moments and Hope

There are times when you are changed by news. One phone call or text can suddenly change your life.

I know I’ve had some of those moments of life changing news. Just recently while out on a fall tour of the hill country I had one.

I was with my wife at a gas station in Johnson City, where I was having a fill up. I looked through the window at my wife. Suddenly her face changed dramatically while in a conversation on her phone.

Her jaw dropping reaction told me that it wasn’t good news. On getting back into the car, she told me what happened. It was one of those news items that I had to just sit there stunned for a moment in order to take it in.

In reading this, you’ve likely been through your own bad news moments as well. The news of the affair changed your life and changed you.

Now I want to share one of life’s hard truths with you. In reading this, you survived the bad news. Think about that for a moment and what it means.

You survived the worst news imaginable for your marriage. It was bad and you made it past that.

You just had some of the worst news in your life and you survived. You went through the worst and are now working your way through it. That in itself is hopeful.

The fact that you survived the bad news makes a statement about your resilience. Even though you may not feel resilient, you are. You’re at a new place and may not even realize it.

Chances are you don’t feel stronger or like you are thriving at this moment. Instead you focus on the bad news with blocking out the part about you surviving it and making it through.

Recognizing and dealing with your new level of functioning requires you making a conscious effort. This is where the membership site, Restored Lifestyle comes in. There you can share what happened to you and find support in helping you through this new part of your life.

Keeping It Real,

Jeff
