Reviewing the Year with Gratitude

As we approach the end of 2023, it’s a natural time to reflect on the past year and the lessons we’ve learned. Each year brings its share of ups and downs, and I personally like to take a moment to think about what I’ve gained from those experiences.

Learning from both the pleasant and unpleasant moments is important. Even though it can be challenging, maintaining a positive attitude and practicing gratitude during tough times is key. In my case, 2023 presented some grueling challenges and unsettling events but I made a conscious effort to find something to be thankful for in each situation. I had to develop a filter to sort through all the propaganda and fake news coming at me on a daily basis.

Choosing to find gratitude isn’t just a game we play with ourselves to feel better. It’s genuinely beneficial for our mental and physical well-being. By focusing on what we can be grateful for, we reduce bitterness and prevent resentment from taking root. Resentments have the power to consume our hearts and minds, so finding something to be thankful for serves as a form of protection. Fear is also one of those things that has the power to choke out the joy that comes with gratitude.

I see this exercise as a way to cleanse and release any lingering emotions from the year, both positive and negative. It can be tempting to hold onto resentment, but the cost of doing so is too high. Once we fall into that pit of resentment, it becomes difficult to climb out and start the new year on a positive note.

Instead, let’s use the upcoming days as a chance to wipe the slate clean and let go. Forgiveness plays a vital role in this process. In the video “Forgiveness: Stop the Pain, Tear down the Walls and Remove the Roadblocks,” you’ll find guidance on how to release the hurts that may be holding you back from fully embracing the new year.

Let’s keep it real and start 2024 with a fresh perspective.

Sincerely,

Jeff
