Breaking away from a lover is not an easy task. Although starting the relationship may have been easy, it is not easy to end them. Although those around the person in the middle of the adultery may talk about how it is so easy to leave the lover, they are not the ones doing it. In breaking away from a lover, the relationship dies, as do the hopes, dreams and passions that were a part of it. These hopes, dreams and passions are often the hardest thing to leave behind. The joy and excitement they gave were so real and important, and now one has to put them away.
It will be important to seperate out the person from the those hopes, dreams and passions. Once you can seperate the two, the process of breaking away is made easier. It may take time to mourn the loss of the hopes, dreams and passions. As part of the mourning process, you may want to consider how you can modify or change those hopes, dreams and passions. Since they were based in the future, they have not happened yet, so there is a possibility of change.
Someone will have to be left behind in an affair, be it the lover, the spouse or yourself. The task is not for children. Children always have a hard time putting away their toys. It is time to put on your big boy/big girl pants and make the necessary changes.
