Is it a family tradition?

One of the areas I cover in my e-book is that of affairs being part of a family pattern. In some families, there are patterns of poor marital relationships or affairs. When you grow up surrounded by affairs or dysfunctional relationships, you get used to it. You often think that this is the way relationships are supposed to be. Having grown up with it, that is what you are used to.

This is especially true for you if you often operate on automatic pilot, or fly by the seat of your pants. If you are prone to go with what you feel and marry those who you feel comfortable with, you may be recreating the dysfunctional patterns you grew up with, including the propensity for affairs. If you parents had an affair and you married someone who felt ‘familiar’ or ‘fit in’, and you never wondered why, it could be due to the tendency to repeat patterns.

In order to overcome this tendency, you will need to 1) become aware of the pattern then 2) take steps to change the pattern.

You are not doomed to repeat old patterns unless you choose to do nothing about them.
