Long after the affair is over, you will still feel the effects of what happened. You are not loosing your mind. When the anniversary of the affair occurs, some people experience anniversary reactions. During these times, they feel a tinge of former feelings along with bringing to remembrance what happened. It could be that they never intended to re-experience them in a romantic manner, there is just something about the time and year and seasons that reminds them. The emotions associated with affairs are intense. Since they are intense, they leave a strong indention on neural circuits. The more intense the emotions the stronger the after effects will be.
When you are aware of these sensations, they will not catch you off guard. You and the cheater may be repairing your marriage and things going well and what seems to be ‘out of the blue’ this hits. It can be surprising when these sensations occur. The sensations will pass. When you realize what is going on you will be less inclined to make accusations and stir up negativity that does not need to be stirred up.
