Rights versus doing right

You have probably encountered the influence of contemporary culture when the cheater starts talking about their ‘rights.’ The may talk about their right to privacy, right to be happy, right to the children, right to sleep with whoever they want, and the list goes on ad nauseum. When a cheater gets into that way of thinking they are hard to deal with. When they find a lawyer that believes their lies, and joins their pathology the situation often gets worse. Not only do they talk ‘rights’, they also use all kinds of creative threats or legal thuggery to intimidate everyone around them to submit to their agenda. This amounts to socially approved bullying.

When cheaters get into the pathological thinking about ‘rights’, it is a sure sign that something is not right. Hollering about rights is often indicative that someone is doing something that they know is wrong and they are intentionally confusing the issue. When they start demanding that their rights be respected, they are probably encroaching onto others or hiding guilt they feel about not doing the right thing in their own life.

In most cases, if they were doing the right thing in terms of right and wrong, there would be no need to holler about their rights. Doing the right thing is often the surest course. Where things get messed up is when judges, lawyers and politicians start changing families that messes occur. When they social engineer, the whole right and wrong become arbitrary. Even knowing what is right and wrong when arbitrary judgements and rulings are made becomes confusing. To avoid such messes, I find sticking with the Biblical sense of right and wrong in such matters takes away the arbitrariness.

Doing right is likely to become increasing difficult as social engineers continue to arrogantly assume that they can make families better rather than support families and spouses in doing the right thing. Even they get the rights and doing right confused.
