Selling you an Affair

Have you considered how affairs are being sold to you and your spouse?   Most of the ads appeal to things like reducing loneliness, reminding you how short your life is, finding instant excitement, feeling alive again, finding a spark in your life again.

Although these promises sound like things you want in your life, the reality is that they’re only short term fixes.  None of these promised benefits are long term solutions.

Consider the ads proclaiming how ‘Life is short, Have an affair‘. If you substituted a drug for the affair it becomes ‘life is short, get high’.

When you make that substitution, you begin seeing what the ad appeals to. You start to see what they are actually promising.

Most cheaters never see through the ads in such a manner. They hear the slogan, start fantasizing about an affair and find themselves caught up in something they never imagined.

Consider that if the casual dating sights actually portrayed themselves truthfully as “Find you worn out sluts here!” or “Take a number, the next available stud will service you when they finish all the horny women ahead of you!” or “Communicable diseases love company!” or “Life is short, spend the rest of it in high drama hell, spend the rest of your money on lawyers, all as a consequence of one short night with some married tramp in your neighborhood!” When you look at the ads that way, they are not so appealing. They are true, but not so tempting.

Not only is it direct advertising selling affairs, the movies and television ‘programming’ are making affairs seem normal. (There’s a reason television shows are called programming). Many of the shows being promoted as ‘new hits’ actively promote affairs on many levels.

The bottom line is that you are being targeted for affairs, whether by ads or shows. Affairs are made to look glamorous and cool rather than show you the truth about them.

Talk about truth in advertising! When you’re told the truth rather than the short term benefits or how cool affairs are, you look at it differently.

If you or your spouse find that ads or shows appealing. Consider for a moment, ‘What is it that they are promising?’

What basic need are they appealing to?

Are the solutions they promise short term or long term in duration?

When you have answered these questions, discuss them with your spouse. It may reveal what you need more of in your marriage.

Let the buyer beware! You are being sold a product that’s dangerous to your health and marriage.

Rather than let the affair ruin your marriage, there are things you can do. Going through the online “Affair Recovery Workshop” is one choice that’ll improve your marriage.
