Functional Illiteracy and the Cookie Cutter approach to Affair Recovery

The other week, I came across an article on ‘functional illiteracy’ which started me thinking. The article by Daniel Lattier pointed out that 32,000,000 Americans are functionally illiterate.

This amounts to a little less than 10% of the US population. So about 1 in 7 Americans are functionally illiterate.

With this large a number, it left me wondering what kind of impact that has on marriages and marriage improvement. The functionally illiterate don’t read self-help books or obtain help for their marriage that way.

This means that a large segment of marriages aren’t getting the help they need.

When they do pick-up the books, they’re looking for cookie cutter recipes for marital success. Unfortunately, when it comes to recovery from an affair the cookie cutter recipe approach doesn’t work so well.

Not all wives nor all husbands operate the same. One approach doesn’t fix every couple. The cookie cutter answers in the self-help books don’t address all the problems.

The hope for the functional illiterate is with videos. They understand spoken English and the ideas presented in a video format.

Although videos help, it also makes them vulnerable to talking head authorities who mislead them. Since they have no reference points, they listen to the last person they heard.

The latest thing they try is based on the last thing they heard. They also don’t like admitting that they don’t understand many things. They don’t even know what questions to ask.

They go with what the latest affair recovery specialist told them without examining the life, background or values of that ‘specialist’. Those little things make a big difference.

In the Affair Recovery Workshop Video approach I use, you’ll be exposed to several tools designed for helping you with the challenges that come up with an affair. You can move past the affair, when you have the tools you need used in the correct sequence.

You’ll also go through recovery in a unique sequence designed for helping strengthen your marriage. Rather than one that starts the two of you arguing over what kind of affair it was right at the start of recovery.

The two of you need to know ways of reconnecting LONG before you’re ready for arguing about affair details.

Order your copy of the workshop today and you can start working on your marriage within minutes, without the embarrassment of feeling inadequate or inferior to some counselor type.

Keeping It Real,

Jeff
