This Florida County Sheriff is Right!

The news of a recent murder in Palm Coast, Florida reminded me of the seriousness of an affair, along with the dangerousness of exes. What surprised me was that it received top billing on some news sites.

The reality is that affairs are a life-threatening event.

In this incident a man, in the midst of a passionate fit, brutally murdered his ex who was having an affair. Although the press noted their marital status, it downplayed them living together when the incident occurred.

Whatever flashing warning signs existed, were ignored.  She had an affair and it ended tragically.

Typically only the news sites from African Nations and India report the brutal violence associated with infidelity. The frequency of beatings and slayings testify that affairs are life threatening events.

While such incidents are reported in those nations, the American press glamorizes cheating while downplaying the potential consequences. CNN recently promoted an article on the benefits of cuckolding.

Rather then point out the dangers, the American press promotes dangerous affair behavior. They put the lives of their readers at risk all in the name of circulation.

By glamorizing affairs, the American public are blinded to the ever present dangers they bring. There are no warning signs alerting you to what can happen.

In the Florida incident, what started as a domestic argument over infidelity quickly escalated. No one expected the outcome that happened.

All it takes is one affair with mishandled communication for things to escalate. Mishandling the affair can be as destructive as the affair itself.

Knowing ways of creating an atmosphere of safety is critical in navigating through the handling of an affair. The feelings are so strong, they can overwhelm you.

These kind of things aren’t supposed to happen just down the beach from vacation spots like Daytona Beach and Palm Beach. When looking at the rows and rows of expensive condos lining Florida beaches, you don’t consider brutal murders.

The Flagler County Sheriff, Rick Staley said, “This case shows just how fast a domestic argument can spiral out of control and into a murder.” Although he’s right, I wonder how many of you consider what the Sheriff said.

Any affair has the potential of triggering a domestic argument that can spiral out of control. The American public has grown so accustomed to the risk that they either ignore it or think “It won’t happen to me.”

There are ways of handling the affairs and confrontations that keep things from escalating. In the “Affair Recovery Workshop”, I include ways of handling confrontation and communication designed for keeping the situation safe for each of you.

Volatile situations like affairs need careful handling. In the workshop, I’ll guide you through a unique sequence guiding you safely through the volatile moments.

Keeping It Real,

Jeff
