Are you provocative enough?

One writer I enjoy began his first book with a cartoon warning about how the contents were potentially dangerous to any sacred cows the reader has.

I suppose the cartoon did some of what it was intended. It alerted you to the challenging ideas presented.

The cartoon took the edge off of what proved being a thought provoking and controversial book. He ended up having to make changes since some audiences were ‘offended’ by the contents.

Even after he died, when I attempted adding content to his wikipedia entry, there were some provocative interactions. The editor and I didn’t see eye to eye on what should be included.

Apparently you can’t include biographical information from your own books. Never mind that the information was factual, you can’t use an author’s work and reference it for that wiki page.

He was known for being a provocative person who made people think. He probably chuckled at how even after death, his life was still surrounded in controversy.

He poked sacred cows until the day and died and then afterwards. He was open about his provocation.

Have you considered how you provoke your spouse? Many of your actions provoke them, whether it’s intentional or not.

You are always provoking them either in a positive or a negative direction. I’m not letting the cheater off the hook, I’m just questioning what kind of provoking you’re doing.

It could be that you are provoking angry reactions, or you could be provoking loving actions. If you’ve not considered it, ask your spouse about ways you provoke them.

You’ll be awakened to a blind side that you weren’t aware of. Since you can only change what you’re aware of, it’s an exercise worth doing.

This is also why play is so important in your marriage. It keeps provocation going in a good direction that both of you can enjoy.

If you are wondering what else may lie on you blindside or how you come across, consider joining the support community at Restored Lifestyle. In the forums, you’ll have a place to speak out and listen to others dealing with affair recovery.

Best Regards,

Jeff
