Symptoms of Affair withdrawal

While researching material for a presentation on love addiction, a new question came up in my mind. It was one of those “Whack on the side of the head” kind of moments where I thought “Why didn’t I think about this before?”

Although it’s been staring me in the face, things suddenly clicked and brought it to awareness. The question that occurred to me was “What are the symptoms of withdrawal from an Affair?”

Although you may not think that the cheater should have any symptoms, the reality is that many cheaters experience symptoms. The symptoms are real and they impact the cheater’s relationship with you.

Their bodies experience changes with the ending of the affair. Some of the potential symptoms include the following:

-vomiting and diarrhea

-abdominal cramping

-restlessness and agitation

-depressed mood

-anxiety

-body aches and pains

-joint pain

-increased skin sensitivity

You may have overlooked their symptoms thinking they were exaggerating or being histrionic. The symptoms are real, and your spouse isn’t being histrionic.

When you understand the full picture and the root issues behind symptoms like these, things start making more sense. Rather than ignore them, tune into what they’re telling you.

The more intense the affair, the greater the intensity and likelihood of going through symptoms like these. They are a reminder that affairs are serious business and that extra-marital sex is much more than just shaking hands with someone.

The impact is serious and needs to be taken seriously.
