Thinking long-long term

If you are planning on cheating, or are in the midst of cheating/straying/sleeping around have you considered the long-long term effects of your actions? The short term effects include exposure to social diseases, marital discord, loss of reputation, etc. The long term effects include estranged familial relationships, social and spiritual alienation, and the consequences of your actions. Long-long term involves how grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren will look at your actions. Will they consider how much money you made, the companies you started, your military record, or look at you as someone who slept around and was disloyal to your family? You may not have considered it, but your reputation continues beyond your life time. Who you sleep with is not just a matter between two adults. The two-adults thing is just a rationalization to excuse your actions. It is an act that continues sending ripples across the generations. Do you want to be known as a slut or whore chaser by future generations? Those generations will look at who you were married to. The confusion caused by your adultery will confuse them. You will not be there to give your flimsy excuses. They will only consider what you did, not your reasons.

The impact of an affair echoes across the generations. Recognize that. You can not escape it. Your actions may even be used as an excuse for a future generation to do wrong, in which case, you led them astray. You are setting the example, one way or another. I have heard some cheaters say that they are not leaders, or example setters. Whether or not they believe they are, they are.
