Still Dealing with Discouagement

When you are working through an affair situation, there will be many times that you face discouragement. Discouragement has a way of draining your strength and will power. When you are discouraged, there is a greater vulnerability for fear, drinking, drug use and other unhealthy ways of medicating the pain away. Although you want the pain to go away, it is during these times that you are most vulnerable. You will want to avoid making major decisions when you are discouraged. Discouragement is also a time that you want to be praying and find new spiritual strength, since it is often a sign that struggles are going on. There are often times that the situation looks hopeless and dark. That does not mean that all is lost. It does mean that you need some new source of hope. It could be that you are learning what to hope in and how to deal with pain. You are wanting the cheater to come to their senses. It could be that you need to come to your senses as well. You need to clear out all those old crutches you used to hide, medicate or mask your pain and learn how to finally deal with it. The pain may be your fears of being alone, your fear of losing your spouse, your loss of direction. These are very real issues that the discouragement is telling you to deal with.

It is often better to face the source of the discouragement rather than run from it (unless your physical safety is at risk).

There will be days you face discouragement. Those days do not last forever. The bottomless pit does have a bottom and the endless darkness will eventually end.

Best Regards,
