Wrestling with natural consequences

One of the realities you encounter in dealing with affairs is ‘wrestling with natural consequences’. No matter how smart a cheater is, they can not cheat the law of natural consequences. No matter how many times you forgive them for their choices, it can not undo the law of natural consequences. Affairs have many natural consequences. These include exposure to transmittable diseases, the risk of being shot by a jealous spouse, the risk of pregnancy, the risk of bad associations, the danger of reprisals from family members, and the stain of spiritual adultery. Cheaters often try to either ignore or reduce these consequences. When the cheaters have the funds, they can often purchase a delay, but delaying the consequence does not prevent them from occurring.

Some of the consequences occur quickly. Others take their time. It is rare that a cheater has an affair without experiencing some natural consequences. With the consequences being so severe, you have to wonder if it is worth the risk. Some of the consequences have ramifications that last through the generations. Rest assured that the real price tag is often hidden, so that cheaters do not have an inkling of what their affair is going to cost them.

In some cases, the consequences consists of missed opportunities. The cheater misses out on the potential their marriage and family could have been. All the potential of possibility is now gone. The potential wealth, influence, good reputation, spiritual leadership, family times, all these are gone with an affair. This is not a matter of not being forgiven, it is a matter of natural consequences. Look at how many of the politicians in the spotlight have permanently handicapped their careers and made themselves laughing stocks due to the impact of their having had affairs. Sure there may be buildings named after them or statues erected, but decent folks continue viewing them as laughing stocks, no matter how respectable they act. That is the law of natural consequences.
