One of the most dangerous weapons in the arsenal of modern nations are submarines. Submarines are dangerous due to them being able to hide.
When nations have submarines, it makes news around the world.
The ability of submarines to travel undetected makes them one of those dreaded fears in the minds of political leaders. They know that these weapons can sneak up on you with little to no warning.
With improved technology submarines are now capable of launching missiles, bombs and other devices. The only limit to their potential damage is the imagination of weapons manufacturers.
I find submarines and their sneaky threat akin to emotional affairs. The emotional affair threat often lies hidden.
The cheater downplays the danger with comments like “we’re just friends” or “it’s nothing serious“. The reality is that emotional affairs are serious threats to your marriage.
Like a submarine hiding under the ocean surface, the danger of the emotional affair is something the cheater doesn’t see. Although you see the danger, it’s hard convincing the cheater of the danger.
They don’t see the dangers of the attachments, or how the relationship is changing them, their affections and their thinking.
The cheater may say that you’re being paranoid, or jealous or over-reactive. You know something is wrong, and are unable to communicate it in a way they understand.
