With Halloween approaching, you’ll hear stories about trick or treating. Some of you may even consider watching scary movies.
Although Halloween is gaining popularity as a time for decoration, for me it’s a time for reflection on how people are often tricked and fooled by others.
One of the latest public relations putsches promoting infidelity is aimed at women. A new book is out taking a pro-infidelity position and it’s being pushed by news outlets and pop media. Whenever the media promotes books encouraging infidelity, I cringe.
The author claims “women choose infidelity because they want variety, adventure and passion”. She’s basing her claim on a series of interviews she did in New York City.
Do people in New York City speak for all women? Apparently the author thinks they do.
Will infidelity deliver those things? Yes, it will.
You’ll experience a variety of emotions both positive and negative. You’ll find adventure, even when you don’t want it. Affairs will take you on a ride you won’t forget.
In terms of passion, affairs deliver the goods. Keep in mind passion means enjoying something to the point of pain. Affairs will bring hurts into your life along with being out of control and take you through wild mood swings.
The author packages infidelity in a positive looking package. Although I consider her approach filled with spin and misdirection, she presents partial truths.
If you want stability, love and commitment, then affairs aren’t the way to go. These are the opposite of what infidelity delivers.
You have a choice, either variety, adventure and passion or stability, love and commitment. Keep in mind that variety means your sexual activities will be extended way beyond your comfort zone.
In terms of adventure, you’ll be taken on a ride that you can’t get off of. You won’t be in control of yourself or your situation.
That’s definitely an adventure of the scary kind. It’s only a short distance between adventure and abnormal.
In terms of passion, I’ve already dealt with the pain part. It also includes passion’s ugly siblings of obsessions, compulsions and perversions. Yes, each of these are filled with passion.
At the site Restored Lifestyle, you can find ways of getting your life back. There are ways of recovering from the adventure that infidelity brings, yet the way back requires effort opposed to just letting things happen.
