Considering the unthinkable

Have you considered the ‘unthinkable?’ What I mean by the ‘unthinkable’ is considering what happens when your spouse confronts your AP and what happens next.

Let me assure you that when it happens, there will be fallout. In many cases, that little secret that you shared won’t be contained or limited any longer. If you cheated with someone at work, the fallout will leave its mark there as well.

Chances are that you’ll be called every name in the book and a few more as well. Those who you thought were friends will likely distance themselves from you.

Consider the possibility that you’ll be alienated from your social circles and without support. When secrets start coming out, you can’t predict the outcome or how far they’ll reach.

One thing you can count on is life won’t go back to normal. The unthinkable changes your relationships. It changes how you think about yourself as well.

Making the choice of choosing not to think about the unthinkable isn’t a viable option. The longer you stay in the affair, the greater the risk of the unthinkable happening.

When you have considered the ‘unthinkable’, you assumed that you can control information and rumors. You also assume that your spouse and others will react as they have in the past.

You can’t count on them staying calm or being reasonable. Affairs have a way of making people unreasonable, since it’s not longer about logic or reason, but instead, raw emotions.

If you had considered the ‘unthinkable’ you wouldn’t still be in the affair. It would have ended long before now. You’ve already lost control over the situation.

What you can control is how you deal with it. There are things you can start doing now. That includes getting help from the video, “Help for the Cheater: Starting the Road to Recovery”. It guides you through the challenges of ending the affair and starting the healing process.
