Unless your spouse is in the medical, law enforcement or international field, the advent of late night calls is concerning. When people call at late hours, it shows a lack of boundaries, and disregard of schedules. Although there are some selfish or ignorant people, in most cases when there are frequent late night calls, there is reason for concern. Although your spouse may make excuses for the calls, when it is the same number or happens with any frequency, there may be good reason for concern. Although it may not be an affair, the mindset of those calling (and those responding) suggest that you are being disregarded. For whatever reason, boundaries are being violated. Rather than dismiss the late night calls, find out what is going on. If the calls need your spouse’s attention that late at night, there are concerns that need to be looked into.
