Is your home a stable?

I was recently reminded by my son, that part of the desire of family members is to want to spend time together. They want to help each other and encourage each other. They want to spend time together. When this desire to associate with and build each other up is removed, the home becomes nothing more than a glorified stable, where the members only stay together out of necessity. When affairs creep into the family, each member of the family then becomes a type of merchandise or reward to fight over. It becomes each person for themselves. The spirit of unity within the family has been destroyed in the name of selfish indulgence.

Although some writers view affairs as ‘natural‘, they do not consider the consequences of infidelity on the dynamics of the family. They do not see how unbridled animal passions transform a home into a stable. They do not see how the attitudes, self-image and mindset of the family members is often scared by the infidelity. Such studies and articles only ease the conscience of the infidel, but do little to ease the pain of the family members. The latest ‘trend’ is to try to find a genetic basis of infidelity rather than realize the morality of one’s choices. With each new technology, there will be new excuse-making and rationalizing the impulsive behavior of affairs. This is just the latest.

Whatever the cause, the effects remain destructive to home life. Home no longer serves as a safe place after an affair or series of affairs. Behaviors can be rationalized, but it will not remove the damage that is done.

  1. Hi Jeffrey, great post! We are all responsible for our actions, even those who refuse to be accountable. Morally, we are still responsible without any genetic basis to blame away or rationalize our behavior. We always have the choice to remain faithful no matter how horrible the situation at home is or how attractive the temptation of an affair may be. I appreciate how you illustrate an affair turning the home into a stable. Thanks for your great work!
