An unsettling and uncomfortable truth about most cheating is that it often runs in families. Yes, one of those hereditary traits and patterns includes ‘cheating’. Like a blot that won’t come out in the wash, it stains the family and its reputation. Like most people, you ignored what your parents or your spouse’s parents did, dismissing it as the choices of a previous generation. You may not have even known about their affairs or even ignored them. If you are like most people, you never even considered a connection, until…you were touched by cheating.
Although each of us wants to think that “I am unique”. I am part of a new generation. I make my own choices. The reality is that the choices of previous generations, like planetary gravity works behind the scenes pulling us into patterns and influencing our lives. The gravitational pull of cheating is real. It effects your relationship with your spouse.
Does this mean that you are doomed to cheat? No. It does mean that when it runs in the family, the risk of either you cheating or being cheated on is higher.

For the moment it is important to realize that the cheating probably runs deeper than you think and goes further back into the family than you want to believe. Families often do not want to talk about it, since it makes everyone uncomfortable. They may dismiss it saying, “That was the past”, without realizing that it is impacting lives even now.
