Cheating at work is a sure way to complicate your job and marriage at the same time. In these hard economic times, there are more pressures at work. With those increased pressures, there are increased temptations in the work place. Although bosses are not supposed to have affairs with employees, it happens. The power difference makes the affair even more complicated. When such relationships happen, you have a power differential, where someone is being exploited.
It could be that you did not want to have an affair at work and were trapped into it. It could also be that you trapped someone into an affair that should not have ever happened. Such boss-employee affair have more strings attached to them than a dozen Pinocchio puppets.
The boss/employee affair is also one that is easy to slip into since one party has power and exploits the other one. The insecurity of the job also plays into the dynamics. Those same dynamics are what makes ending the affair a complicated matter. You will find that these relationships are easier to start than to end. It may be easy to sleep with your boss or attractive employee at the Christmas party while in a festive mood, not realizing that you have bought a ticket to hell, and your traveling compartment does not have air conditioning.

I just want to say that I understand that people change over time. But when that change comes, and for whatever reason the cheater decided that he/she did not want to be in an exclusive relationship any longer, then the correct behavior would be to just be honest and leave. The stench that comes from such ugly behavior permeates all of society.

Thanks for contributing. For the cheater to be honest with themselves and their spouses and leave is one solution. It is very cut and dried. Some cheaters are able to be that honest, although many struggle with being torn. They struggle between the world of the lover and the world of their spouse. They often want both and do not want to hurt either one. Their avoidance of pain often creates more pain for those around them. There are other cheaters who honestly do want their marriage. Had they been thinking straight would not have cheated. They often want the marriage. They just do not know how to get the marriage to where they want it.With this population, the honest thing is for them to stay in the marriage.
Knowing where their heart is and what they are committed to is key in understanding the cheater. The value system they live by is often critical in understanding which type of cheater you are dealing with.
