I’m not obsessed, I just think about it all the time

You have probably hear yourself or someone else tell you “I’m not obsessed, I just think about it all the time”. Although jokes are often made about obsessions, when you are struggling through them, they are no laughing matter. Sure, the humor makes things tolerable, but the torment of not being able to shut your mind off from the thoughts about either the lover or the cheater playing over and over in your mind is tortuous.

You may have started the obsessions by choice, yet after a while, you find that you can not turn them off. Each time they play, you feel the same emotions rising up inside you. It becomes so real, it seems that you are reliving the incidents repeatedly.

You can always get medication to calm you mind down, but it still does not change your choices, nor your actions. If you do not change what you are doing along with what you are thinking, there will be no change, or the change will be short lived.

I will be joining Doug and Linda of Emotional Affair today in a discussion on obsessions. It will be available through “Affair Recovery Groups”.

I hope to see you there. It promises to be an enlightening time dealing with the topic of obsessions and affairs.

Best Regards,

Jeffrey Murrah
