Your emotions are your friends

In terms of dealing with affairs, some of you may be tempted to use medications as a way of coping with your emotions. Rather than using medications to cope, consider using them to understand what is going on. Since you and your spouse have bonded together, some of the emotions you are experiencing may be clues as to what they are experiencing. This is especially true if what you are feeling does not make sense or is alien in some way. Rather than try to escape it, drink it away or drug it away, …Listen to the emotions. Those sensations of fear, dread, sadness, uncertainty, and anger may not have originated with you at all. They may be clues to what is going on. When you are married, especially after several years, bonding occurs. You and your spouse grow attuned to each other. Part of that bonding includes perceiving what is going on with them. You may have many of the answers you did not realize.

With those insights gained from paying attention to the emotions, you will be able to tune into your spouse better than others would be able to. You will be able to ‘connect’ with them. Your emotions were not meant to be torture devices. They are ways of helping you connect and bond with your spouse.
