Love makes a ‘troubled’ family

I recently received an email discussing the idea of how “Love makes a family”. This sentiment sounds romantic and may promote warm fuzzy feelings on reading it, yet in terms of relationships, it is a recipe for disaster. You may have come face to face with this when the cheater tells you, but “I love them”. If you have faced that situation, you know first hand that it takes MORE than love to make a family. It takes commitment, loyalty, forgiveness and trust. If everyone goes out, finds someone to love and calls it a family, we will soon have a lot of blended families. Mixing and matching the colors and shapes depending on our moods.

The cheater and their lover are not a family. It takes a lot more than love to make a family. Relationships based on love alone are romantic, but they do not provide the kind of foundation you need for solid family. Call me Scrooge if you like for saying that a healthy family needs more than just love. I consider this slogan in the same category as Ashley Madison’s “Life is short, have an affair”. Each have enough of the truth to sound good, yet if you live your life by such deceitful slogans you will have a troubled family and troubled marriage.

  1. May your time with your family be especially warm this evening as we approach celebrating the Lord who came and bought us with his obedience to the Father unto the death of the flesh.

Cookies, cocoa , fireside chats …whatever brings you closer to Him and your loved ones.

God Bless you Jeff in Jesus Christ our Lord
