Overcoming feeling lost

One of the challenges you will face on finding out about the affair is the sensation of being lost. You know what city you are in and where you live, yet when you find out about the affair, there is a sense of being lost. The relationship that provided you with direction and purpose is something that you do not know if you can count on. There is no GPS that can help you overcome this sensation of being lost. It is being emotionally and relationally lost. There is a sense of being confused. You once knew where you stood, where you were going, and what was expected of you, but now…everything is in motion.

I learned that one of the side effects of earthquakes is nausea. That does not surprise me. When you loose orientation, it effects your sense of balance and your stomach. Likewise, loosing your emotional and relationship balance often has nausea associated with it as well. Your foundations are no longer as firm as they were. You feel weak in your head, heart and knees.

These lost and weak feelings will not last. Although they are scary at first in terms of “How long is this going to last?”. After some ups and downs, the earth does finally quit moving and you can begin rebuilding your foundations. In rebuilding you will have to re-orient and recalibrate many aspects of your life and your thinking.

The silver lining to this, is that when you recalibrate, you often see options and opportunities that you had not seen before.
