There are some cheaters who choose prostitutes rather than have affairs. In their mind, the choice reduces the possibility of them falling in love or having a relationship. When your spouse cheats, it hurts whether it is a prostitute or a lover. Each have their own unique problems and pose unique threats to your marriage. A cheap prostitute is never cheap in the long run. There is greater risk to disease and greater risk that they will talk. Cheating is cheating, whether the cheater paid for someone to be silent or purchased it with false promises, a meal and flowers.
Cheating shows that the cheater has a low regard for their wife and family. Yes, the whoremonger may be a family man or even a church man on the outside, yet he is still a cheater. Cheaters may accomplish great things, yet the price tag is often a ruined family life, defiled conscience and secrets, lots of secrets. Whatever great accomplishments they may attempt or achieve, they still sold their soul for the price of a hooker.
Although the financial transaction between the cheater and the prostitute may be over with, the trust damaged by their choices remain. They still compromised what they stood for with their choice. They still sullied their family’s reputation and their own self-respect.
When society honors whoremongers, what does that say about our families? We may talk about family values, but modern society chooses to lavish praise on those who tossed their families aside. Many times, the press, family members left behind and others continue hiding prostitutes and the ugly realities of what the real man was like so that the fantasy continues. Honoring such men, be they presidents, business leaders, sports figures or community leaders does little more than perpetuate the problem of tolerating infidelity and those who practice it. Instead, we need to honor those men and women who built solid families. We need to speak well of men who conducted themselves honorably when faced with temptations.
