Snake Bit at the Snake Farm

This past month, the musician Ray Wylie Hubbard performed here. One of his songs that gained notoriety was “Snake Farm” in 2006.  Ironically, I have been that very snake farm he mentioned in the song.  As a child I had often imagined what a visit to the place would be like. One weekend, we went and saw for ourselves what the snake farm was like.

In looking over their  collection of snakes I recalled the films I watched in graduate school anthropology classes where we learned about religious snake handlers. The films made the snake handlers look like a bunch of extremist kooks. I mean, who in their right mind would want to handle a venomous snake just to prove their faith?

Fortunately, we only looked at the venomous snakes and didn’t handle them.

To my surprise, snake handing is more popular than I ever imagined. Although the churches where snake handling are in very rural areas, there are many urban and suburban areas where snake handling goes on as well. In those areas, snake handling involves working closely with dangerous people and taking undo risks with them.

The big difference is that those urban and suburban snake handlers don’t even realize the dangers they are handling. This is a stark contrast to the snake handling preachers who know when they have a snake in their hands.

Going out for that cup of coffee after work or just getting a bite to eat often turn workplace relationships into a writhing affair. Like snakes, there are people you or your spouse work with that are waiting for their chance to strike. With these snakes, the venom is of a adulterous nature.

The snakes in urban and suburban areas are the lurking lovers who view their fellow workers as potential affairs waiting to happen.

You may be sending your spouse to a snake farm each day. You expect them to dress up nice, go in and work side by side with dangerous people and it not affect them. At least the religious snake handlers know that they are dealing with venomous creatures. Many times you or your spouse are oblivious to the danger signs.

It’s only after you or your spouse have been bit that you wake up to the true nature of some people that have worked beside you. The sad part is that once the venom of adultery is in their veins, its too late. Rather than seeing the warning signs, now you’ve got to deal with the recovery from what happened.

If it’s the early stages of infection the video, Dealing with the Affair Crisis is something you’ll need. The sooner you get help, the greater the likelihood of surviving the affair.

Best Regards,

Jeff
