Good Follow Through reduces the risk of Affair relapse

When I tried my hand at learning golf at San Jacinto College, one of the things I learned was the importance of follow through. When you don’t follow through on your swing, it has consequences.

It’s not enough to just hit the ball, it’s essential that you follow through.  That follow through makes all the difference in what kind of golf game you experience.

The lessons from learning golf also apply to affair recovery. You may be getting some things right, yet without follow through, the results won’t be optimal.

Optimal results in affair recovery mean you need follow through with relapse prevention. This includes setting boundaries and maintaining them.

When you set boundaries, their effectiveness depends on maintaining them. You’ll face the challenges of getting sloppy and encroachment. You may even get tired of being consistent and relax them at those times.

Being inconsistent requires effort. It’s not just doing the right things, its’ about being consistent in doing them. Inconsistency leads to affair relapse.

Affair relapse means that you go through all the high drama one more time. That drama is bad enough the first time without having repeat performances.

I can’t emphasize the importance of a good affair relapse plan in reducing the risk of affair relapse. The ending of the affair is NOT the end of affair recovery, it’s the beginning of it.

Getting the affair out of the cheater’s head and heart is critical in turning their heart back toward you.

One way you can know whether your ‘affair relapse prevention plan’ has all the requirements is with the video “Preventing Affair Relapse”. Knowing what to do will keep you from having to go through it all again.

Best Regards,

Jeff
