Tackling the tough talk with the Cheater

One of the things my parents did for me as a child was providing me with swimming lessons. Completing them gave me confidence in my abilities.

Prior to that time, the deep end of the pool intimidated me. I wanted to go there, yet didn’t feel comfortable doing so.

After my lessons, one of the things I did was jump into the deep end of the pool. I felt I had to test my new skills out.

I took a deep breath and took the plunge. I also made sure I knew how close the edge was so I could find my way back out.

After that first splash and swim to the edge. I knew I could do it.

With my new confidence, there was no more wading into the pool from the shallow end, I had what it took to take on the deep end.

There are some conversations about affairs where you just have to jump into the deep end of the pool. There is no way of easing into some topics.

Those difficult conversations, like the deep end of the pool may look intimidating. The answer to your trepidation is to ‘jump in’.

Once you jump into the topic, you start finding your way. The more you do it, the more confidence you begin gaining.

There are times you’ll be treading water, that’s natural. The first talks may be short. As you do it more, you’ll be able to handle more.

If you were hoping for a non-messy way of dealing with difficult conversations, there isn’t one. Real life is messy.

One of the most messy things is handling conversations about the affair.

Discussing the Affair tests your confidence and abilities. You may start off feeling confident, yet a few words from your spouse can leave you wondering about yourself.

They leave you questioning every aspect of your abilities and capabilities. The more you ‘jump in’, the better you’ll be able to navigate those difficult talks.

At Restored Lifestyle, members have access to videos guiding them on what topics need attention and ways of helping those tough talks go even smoother. Today, I included tips on preparing for these tough conversations. I invite you to join today.

Jeff
