Changing the meaning of Christmas

Your marriage is important. It dominates your thoughts and emotions. When your marriage is in good shape, the holidays are a wonderful time.

When your marriage is less than wonderful, the holidays turn into a dreadful time. Affairs transform your holidays into a nightmare.

Affairs turn the miracle of Christmas into an Anti-Miracle. Instead of joy and hope, it brings dread and guilt.

I was reminded of this on reading the story of a family in Kentucky where unfaithfulness changed everything. In this family, the results were tragic.

The affair changes times of closeness into times of suspicion. It turns your world upside down. Intimacy becomes something to be endured rather than enjoyed.

Instead of looking forward to spending time together, you worry and dread what time together may bring. Your mind obsesses on what the cheater might do and who they may have done things with.

Instead of creating memories that last a lifetime, the holidays bring horrors you can’t forget.

The fights, lies and deceptions turn each get together into a boxing arena.

You find your hopes, dreams, security and health crashing down around you. You compare yourself to what you think the lover is like.

Instead of being surrounded with loving family, enjoyable friends and good times, cheating turns it all into a nightmare for you. People you thought you knew can’t be trusted.

The affairs changes how you view them. You look at them with suspicions about them secretly knowing about the affair and not telling you.

Your family that you thought you had becomes a bad dream.

You begin wondering if you can trust your so-called friends. The cheating turns everything it touches in your life to suspicion, hurt and blame.

It’s during this time that drugs and alcohol become methods of escape rather than celebration. When things get this twisted, you need help. You need to talk with someone BEFORE you bring things crashing down on yourself.

This is the time when you need a place like membership site, Restored Lifestyle where you can vent, fume, compare notes with others or get clear answers for the situations you are now faced with. You can stop the nightmare before it devours you.

Keeping It Real,

Jeff
