President Biden is right about this

There were mixed reactions in the press a couple of years ago when President Biden claimed that ‘Facebook is killing people’. The fact is, President Biden is onto something with his statement.

Scoffers may dismiss his comment, but I’ve seen evidence supporting his claim. Although the context concerned vaccines, my concern is that of marriages and individuals. The number of marriages and relationships killed by an affair starting on Facebook is staggering.

Studies have already found Facebook. Lawyers report that Facebook has driven the divorce rate even higher than it was.

Although social media looks innocent on the surface, when cheaters or potential cheaters go online, things change. They view social media services, like Facebook as a tool for hooking up. They can say they’re just catching up with old friends when in reality, they are hooking up with old flames.

Those ‘friends’ and the messages communicated soon turn sexual and the affair is underway. All this happening right under your nose. What seems to be innocent messages are people reaching out and connecting with each other.

In my survey of couples who experienced affairs, about one-third reported experiencing suicidal ideations after the affair came out. Since I don’t take suicidal ideation lightly, when there is an obsession with suicidal thoughts, there’s a risk of physical death. In my mind, killing the will to live is a serious matter.

I can assure you that in many of the marriages touched by an affair, something was killed. It may be the spirit of oneness, trust, confidence or even love. Facebook is definitely killing the emotional closeness of those couples.

Even if your marriage isn’t killed by Facebook, it may be wounded or handicapped by social media. Time spent on social media is time stolen from your marriage that you’ll never be able to get back.

So, President Biden was right about Facebook being a killer. He just didn’t realize how his statement applied to cheating. He claims it was about disinformation, which also contributes to affairs as well.

If your marriage has been touched by an affair whether it be physical or emotional, the video “Getting Past the Affair Crisis” will guide you through your initial shaky time. When the affair is discovered you go through a time of uncertainty or shakiness. Finding your way through it is important to your survival and living through the affair.
