Fantasies are an integral part of affairs. It is fantasies which are the fertile ground in which an affair grows. The infidel often fantasizes about what adultery will be like. They entertain scenario after scenario concerning their lover. Despite the many fantasies and roles they have them and their lover in, the majority of the fantasies are just that-fantasies.
Besides the fantasies which start the affair, there are also those which the resolute spouse has in response to the affair. Some of the fantasies concern revenge, and some are fantasies about how they want the marriage to return to the way it was. Although there is no way that the relationship can return to the way it was, they often persist in their efforts to recapture a relationship that had not existed for years, if ever. Much like the fantasies which started the affair are dangerous, so are these fantasies. Many times, the idealized version of the relationship is so unrealistic, that no one or no relationship could ever achieve what they hope for.
