Are Affairs Against the Law?

When a cheater is convinced that they are doing nothing wrong and not breaking any laws, they are hard to live with. Even if you confront them with a copy of the laws where you live, they often deny that it pertains to them. They often view themselves as special and ‘above the law’. They may even think that they are smarter than the law.

Some pay lip service to the law, yet quickly dismiss how it applies to them. In some Muslim nations, cheaters find loop holes around the laws regarding adultery. Having laws regarding adultery often do not stop the cheaters. When they are determined to cheat, they do not care what the law says. They function according to special rules. In their mind, laws are for the others and do not apply to them.

A cheater’s mind can excuse not only cheating, but many other issues as well. You will often find yourself frustrated in dealing with them concerning the law. If you try to argue with them, they will often dismiss what you have to say. They have already shown that they do not care about man’s laws or God’s laws.

Instead of focusing on whether or not an affair is against the law, focus instead on the issues of loyalty, commitment, honesty and trust. Consider questions like, “How does your affair show me that I can trust you?”, “How does your affair show me that you are committed to our relationship?”. “What does your affair tell me about the kind of honesty you want in our relationship?”. They will not like such questions, since they put them on the spot and can not be dismissed so easily.
