Fires and Common Sense

When you encounter someone who has experienced a severe burn, the first thing you do is to separate them from the source of the burn. It is only after you separate them that you administer first aid. This is basic first aid and common sense. Although you have the common sense to know what to do, cheaters do not. They do not remove themselves from what burned them. They clamor for a return to what burned them. When the cheater manipulates you, common sense goes out the window. You may find yourself administering first aid, while the cheater continues allowing what burned them to do deeper and deeper damage. Such scenarios provide the cheater with the life support they need to stand in proximity to the source of the burn rather than wince away in pain.

When you are burned, you often loose sensitivity. You are no longer responsive to your environment. At that point the only sensation they are aware of is the deep pain of the burn. As unhealthy as it seems, cheaters often stay in contact with the source of the burn long after the initial damage is done.

When an affair happens, you need more common sense, not less. You need to remove the burned party from the source of the burn. This means no farewell meetings, no last phone calls, no sorting things out. Get them away from the fire!
