FriendFinder is not your friend anymore

It was reported in the British press and hacker news, that the adult site, Friend Finder* was    hacked and some of the information on the database of users had been leaked on a dark web site.

The site claims having 63 million users. The hack apparently happened a couple of weeks ago. The hacker reportedly asked the users whose information was hacked for $100,000. When the money was not paid, the information was released on site located within the dark web.  It will only be a matter of time before that information will reach its way to the general public.

The hacker reportedly had 3,900,000 people in the database hack,  is a lot of data. Let me put this in perspective for you. The amount of data leaked is MORE than the population of Los Angeles, California.

The hacker has the “users’ sexual preferences, email addresses, sexual orientation, dates of birth, addresses, usernames, and whether the member is seeking extramarital relationships”.

That kind of information in the hands of the wrong people could be very embarrassing. What this means for you, is that information about your spouse may be online or be released soon which could be quite shocking. Imagine a private eye finding a way to expose 4 MILLION cheaters at once.

This hack is Private Eye exposure on mega-steroids. This means that 4 MILLION homes will suddenly find themselves dealing with an ugly affair situation.

If some of that information comes out, how are you going to handle it? If you are the cheater and suddenly, the information you thought no one knew is suddenly available for your spouse to find, what are you going to do? You can freak out or you can start doing something about it now.

Imagine the fallout when your wife, co-workers, employees, students, or congregation discovers this secret that you have hidden from them? It is not a pretty picture.

With nearly 4,000,000 records having been hacked, that is a considerable risk. There is a greater risk that you will be found out than you have of winning the lottery.

You could start addressing what happened now, before all the fallout hits. When you proactively deal with the affair, you can reduce some of the issues associated with it. The longer you wait, the greater the likelihood of damage from the affair.

If you have used FriendFinder, your data is at risk. Your secret is at risk. Rather than worry about the fallout, you can do something now with the Affair Recovery Workshop which you can go through in the safe surroundings of your own home, OR you can hope that your wife never finds out about what you did, and assume that you are ‘special’ and that your data is somehow immune from risk.

The online adult community has exploded in growth for many reasons. One of those reasons is the assumption of privacy. When cheaters think that they will not get caught, they take more risks.

When companies promise being discrete, confidential or private they are more inclined to take risks in using them. They may even use secret credit cards or hidden email accounts.

Those secret credit cards, and hidden email accounts will not protect you from your data being hacked. Lifelock may protect your identity from being stolen, but it not going to protect your reputation from your peccadilloes. Your online affair is at risk of being found out.

Moses once said “be sure your sins will find you out.” I wonder if he was in any way referring to data hacks and releases of private information?

Best Regards,

Jeff
