How dangerous are business trips?

A few weeks ago I went on a business trip. At the hotel, at the same time was a massive gathering of teenage girls.

When I say massive, I am referring to over 1,000 of them. When you put over 1,000 teenage girls in a hotel, it impacts the estrogen levels of the surroundings. There was not only noise, there was a massive overflowing of teenage hormones and estrogen.

Every morning, they had a gathering that included singing and clapping. When you have that many girls singing and clapping, the sound resonated through the bottom floors of the hotel.

The gathering included a huge dance, which meant formals and some indecent dresses as well. Up and down the halls were girls dressing up like women with many wearing provocative dresses. Apparently they associate sexiness with maturity.

There was a noticeable shift of increased energy associated with the event.

I thought to myself about the risks associated with than many teenage girls in a hotel. There’s something about being out of town that gives people permission to take greater risks and do things they wouldn’t normally do.

I suspect the willingness to engage in risky behavior when out of town was behind them wearing some of the outfits they wore. No one was watching, so “Why not?

The whole experience had me thinking and examining the risk of affairs on business trips. When you are away from your spouse in a strange city, surrounded by temptations and exhausted or bored from the long day of business the risks for an affair are there.

According to one survey, 36% of respondents said that they had affairs on business trips. Think about that for a moment. This amounts to 1 in 3 business trips included an affair.
