Finding your social networking

A couple of days ago someone wrote in wanting to know “Can anyone find out about your social networking?” Since my sites focus on affairs and recovery from them, I’ll look at the question from that perspective.

The short, simple answer is “Yes!” Your spouse can discover your social networking. If they don’t have the skills, they can always ask a computer-savvy friend or talk to a helpful librarian in making such a discovery.

Anyone with some basic social networking skills can start mapping out your social media world. They can track who you connected with or sent messages to.

It’s not just messaging. Your social world and connections can be mapped out. It’s just a matter of connecting the dots between your connections.

You may think yourself as smart by using aliases and alters, but with a little sleuthing, you can start connecting the dots and obtain a good idea of true identities. When you post on social networks, your information is suddenly very public.

You may be controlling the information on your end, but that doesn’t mean that the AP is controlling things on their end. All it takes is a few loose ends and things start unraveling.

When the person doing the sleuthing is good, they not only find your social network, they also uncover your travels. When they start connecting the dots, they find where you were and who you were with.

An angry spouse who suspects you’re cheating has the determination to self-teach sleuthing. You may call it ‘facebook stalking’ or something else. They learn how to find out more about you than you thought possible.

Another potential stalker is the AP when they start obsessing over you. An obsessed mind finds ways of ferreting out information. The more they know about you, the more vulnerable you and your family become to potential blackmail situations.

This means is that you need to deal with the affair ASAP. If there has been any mention of it in social media, it can be found out. As facial recognition improves, it also increases the likelihood of you being found out.

When it comes time for ending the affair and making changes, consider the video “Help for the Cheater: Starting the Road to Recovery“. Inside you’ll find things you need to be aware of in making that jump.
